The Search and Rescue Radar Transponder (SART) is a device that sends a radar signal once a radar beam hits it and creates a strong echo on the radar monitor. They are used on ships and airplanes to provide a quick rescue when your ship gets into a storm, or you have a shipwreck. It belongs to the rescue gear in the GMDSS.
